Maryan

Maryan  (tamil) – 2013

After Kundan last month, it is Maryan this month. I woudn’t say that Maryan is a totally different story, it is the same typical love story but Dhanush has performed very well in this movie. He has grown so far. The way he plays his role is just amazing. The emotions he showed us, the anger, the love. It is simply amazing! He is becoming a shining star. Also what a comeback for Parvathy Menon! Pheww!
The story starts in Sudan, Africa where Maryan Vijayan Joseph (Dhanush) was working for two years on a contract basis and the twist begins when his contract comes to an end and he decided to go back home, India.
Maryan, a fisherman is very attached to the sea. He worships the sea and refuses to leave his home. The only reason he decided to leave everything behind is because of Panimalar (Parvathy Menon). Panimalar’s dad could not settle his debts and the he was given the choice to either settle his debts or get Panimalar married to Theekurisi (vinayakan).  Panimalar has to struggle quite a bit to get Maryan’s attention. Maryan’s best friend, sakkarai (Appukutty), helped Panimalar to get closer to Dhanush. This eventually leads to maryan falling in love with Panimalar.

During his two years in Sudan, he made friends with Sami (Jagan) who is also from India. When they were on their way back home, to India. They were kidnapped by a group of local terrorist in Africa demanding money for their freedom. After 21 days of captivity, he decided to run for his life along with his friend sami. The second half of the movie shows how Maryan breaks all the obstacles he face to get back to his love, panimalar as promised. So, suspense arises here. Will he get back to India? Will Maryan be killed by the terrorist? Finally, it is a happy ending movie. Maryan managed to get back and be with his love. This is not an extraordinary movie yet again Dhanush’s acting awesome.

Another killer in this movie is the songs! The magic of A.R. Rahman’s  compositon. All the songs are good. You just hear them once and you will be addicted to it.
