Singam 2

Singam 2 (Tamil)- 2013

The toughest cop is indeed back in charge. The most awaited movie in the Tamil Industry.
‘Singam 2’ is the squeal of Singam which was released in 2010. Back then it was a major hit. Singam 2 portrays about DuraiSingam (Surya), the DSP who was off-duty for several months to keep an eye on the ‘bad guys’ (drug dealers) and find out who is involved in this. This may sound like it is a full action movie but it is not. It is a typical tamil movie with several romance and comedy scenes as well. Surya managed to pull it off. The movie starts in Tuticorin where Duraisingam tries to find the culprit. It ended up that the main drug dealer is from Kenya and he goes there to arrest him. Also, Rahman is back after a long break. It was such a delight to watch him on screen. The movie was shot in several places like Kerala, Tuticorin, Chennai, Hyderabad, Malaysia, Thirunuveli, Karaikudi and Kenya.

Romance- Kavya (Anushka) is still waiting for Duraisingam’s father to approve their marriage. The reason is because his father thought that he is no longer a police officer hence he does not want to approve their marriage. They have been dating for the past two years. There’s a twist in ‘singam 2’ when Satya (Hansika) falls in love with Duraisingam. However, in the end Satya realises that Duraisingam is head over heels with Kavya and decided not interfere in duraisingam’s life anymore. There were several romace scenes that I went   “ awwwwwww”. Only Surya can get the audience so emotional. Let be love, sad, anger or happy. Finally, they get engaged. The marriage wasn’t shown probably there will be a Singam 3 J.

Comedy- So our Erimalai (vivek) is back and this time he is not alone but with Santhanam. The comedy scenes were really good. The whole cinema was laughing their ass off. So did I.

Songs- Songs in ‘Singam 2’ is the same director as Singam. I somehow feel that the songs in Singam were much better than ‘singam 2’. I have a couple of songs which caught my attention though. First is Puriyavillai by Swetha Mohan and Singam dance by DSP himself, Sharmila and Baba Sehgal.
