Why Does A Ceylonese Bride Wear A Veil?

Image
So, why does a Ceylonese bride wear a veil? I myself don't know much about the tradition. I wasn't even aware of this until a few posts came up on Facebook. I don't any reason behind all the tradition that happens in a Ceylonese wedding. In a typical Ceylon wedding, the grooms sits on the manavarai (Canopy) through out the wedding. The brides comes in after the "rakshabandham" of the groom. Trust me, i don't even know what the hell is this. So apparently the bride and groom cannot see each other until he (groom) hands the bride her "Koorai" saree (wedding saree). That is the reason why a Ceylon bride wears a veil. The whole cost of the wedding falls under the bride's responsibility. Remember my earlier post about the gold melting ceremony? That is purely the responsibility of the groom's side. And then she woke up

An evening walk by the beach with sounds of the waves. An evening she always wanted with him. His touch, his smell, his presence, his voice still lingers around her. He was the only one that mattered to her. She was head over heels with him. She always wonder what will her life be without him? Is she better off without him? All those thoughts gave her sleepless nights. But the joy she gets when he is around her is priceless. He made her a better person. Of all the people she had meet, he is the only one she was attached too. Suddenly reality hit her really hard. He was too good for her. Will he actually fall in love with me she thought? She was just an ordinary girl. No one can love me she thought. ***Pat at the back*** . She turned and he was there. He: Just came? She: Yes He: Let's walk by the beach.  They walked and walked with waves hitting them. watching the clear water kiss the sands. She was on top of the world with the man she loved the most, watching the sunset. Wh...

Mixed Emotions

So, here it goes BYE BYE 2013 and HELLO 2014! A part of me wants 2013 to end and another part of me don't want it to end. Yes, i am a weirdo. You guys should have know that by now :-P . At times you just wish you had a time machine so that you can go back anywhere you like. Don't you? 2013 thought me a lot. In fact every year life thought me something. Let it be good or bad. Lessons learned for the good :) 2014 the year that i will graduate (fingers crossed). In other words my university life comes to an end. 4 years of journey with all those wonderful people is finally coming to an end. I normally don't have any resolutions and i am serious. You can't predict what life has in store for you right? You can just plan it but god might have other plans for you (experienced). But one thing i am sure is LIFE IS FULL OF SURPRISES! Anyways  enjoy your new year's eve. Stay safe and don't get drunk :-P

Watermelon Nails

Image
1) Choose any medium or dark shade of pink colour nail polish and paint your nails from bottom. Keep enough space to paint a green and white line. (Depending how long are your nails) 2) Use any thin brush to draw a line at the top of your nails using a medium or dark green nail colour. Let it set for about 2 minutes. 3) Below the green colour nail polish, use a white nail colour to draw the same line and let it set as well. 4) Finally, use a black colour nail polish to randomly draw dots on top of the pink shade which indicates watermelon seeds.

What do you call such people?

It all started with ** I will only watch talaivaa after seeing the reviews. I never liked his movies except for thuppaki** this tweet. Immediately so many of them spammed my mentions calling me a bitch and so on for posting such tweet. Some even said that I am talking bad about Vijay. Now, which part of that tweet says so? Everyone's entitle to their opinion. Just because someone does not like something you like, you call them a bitch? and all of them who spammed my mentions i assume are teenage guys (They look like one). Not matured at all. Honestly speaking, I find only ghilli and Thuppaki ok. Even Nanban NO! Comapared to 3idiots, 3 idiots was so much better. Amir Khan carried the role better than Vijay. I have done this so many times but among Malaysians and none of them have ever treated me like that before. This is something new.

Bharatham

Bharatham or also known as Bharathanatyam is an indian classical dance. I have been learning it from the age of 14. I initially entered my current dance school for fun. My neighbors enrolled long ago and i decided to just try it. I will stop if i don't like. After a few months i really loved it. Something which i do with passion. Dancing keeps me happy. It is fun and exciting to dance at functions or temples. My all time favourite dancer is Shobana. This lady is talented. Also, my guru. She's an amazing teacher and dancer. Until date i am still dancing and i probably will until i can :) Here are some dance poses: Shivan Pose Amman pose Shivan and Parvathy Radha and Krishna

Maryan

Image
Maryan   (tamil) – 2013 After Kundan last month, it is Maryan this month. I woudn’t say that Maryan is a totally different story, it is the same typical love story but Dhanush has performed very well in this movie. He has grown so far. The way he plays his role is just amazing. The emotions he showed us, the anger, the love. It is simply amazing! He is becoming a shining star. Also what a comeback for Parvathy Menon! Pheww!   The story starts in Sudan, Africa where Maryan Vijayan Joseph (Dhanush) was working for two years on a contract basis and the twist begins when his contract comes to an end and he decided to go back home, India. Maryan, a fisherman is very attached to the sea. He worships the sea and refuses to leave his home. The only reason he decided to leave everything behind is because of Panimalar (Parvathy Menon). Panimalar’s dad could not settle his debts and the he was given the choice to either settle his debts or get Panimalar married to Theekuri...
