Mixed Emotions

So, here it goes BYE BYE 2013 and HELLO 2014! A part of me wants 2013 to end and another part of me don't want it to end. Yes, i am a weirdo. You guys should have know that by now :-P . At times you just wish you had a time machine so that you can go back anywhere you like. Don't you? 2013 thought me a lot. In fact every year life thought me something. Let it be good or bad. Lessons learned for the good :) 2014 the year that i will graduate (fingers crossed). In other words my university life comes to an end. 4 years of journey with all those wonderful people is finally coming to an end. I normally don't have any resolutions and i am serious. You can't predict what life has in store for you right? You can just plan it but god might have other plans for you (experienced). But one thing i am sure is LIFE IS FULL OF SURPRISES! Anyways  enjoy your new year's eve. Stay safe and don't get drunk :-P

Watermelon Nails

Image
1) Choose any medium or dark shade of pink colour nail polish and paint your nails from bottom. Keep enough space to paint a green and white line. (Depending how long are your nails) 2) Use any thin brush to draw a line at the top of your nails using a medium or dark green nail colour. Let it set for about 2 minutes. 3) Below the green colour nail polish, use a white nail colour to draw the same line and let it set as well. 4) Finally, use a black colour nail polish to randomly draw dots on top of the pink shade which indicates watermelon seeds.

What do you call such people?

It all started with ** I will only watch talaivaa after seeing the reviews. I never liked his movies except for thuppaki** this tweet. Immediately so many of them spammed my mentions calling me a bitch and so on for posting such tweet. Some even said that I am talking bad about Vijay. Now, which part of that tweet says so? Everyone's entitle to their opinion. Just because someone does not like something you like, you call them a bitch? and all of them who spammed my mentions i assume are teenage guys (They look like one). Not matured at all. Honestly speaking, I find only ghilli and Thuppaki ok. Even Nanban NO! Comapared to 3idiots, 3 idiots was so much better. Amir Khan carried the role better than Vijay. I have done this so many times but among Malaysians and none of them have ever treated me like that before. This is something new.

Bharatham

Image
Bharatham or also known as Bharathanatyam is an indian classical dance. I have been learning it from the age of 14. I initially entered my current dance school for fun. My neighbors enrolled long ago and i decided to just try it. I will stop if i don't like. After a few months i really loved it. Something which i do with passion. Dancing keeps me happy. It is fun and exciting to dance at functions or temples. My all time favourite dancer is Shobana. This lady is talented. Also, my guru. She's an amazing teacher and dancer. Until date i am still dancing and i probably will until i can :) Here are some dance poses: Shivan Pose Amman pose Shivan and Parvathy Radha and Krishna

Maryan

Image
Maryan   (tamil) – 2013 After Kundan last month, it is Maryan this month. I woudn’t say that Maryan is a totally different story, it is the same typical love story but Dhanush has performed very well in this movie. He has grown so far. The way he plays his role is just amazing. The emotions he showed us, the anger, the love. It is simply amazing! He is becoming a shining star. Also what a comeback for Parvathy Menon! Pheww!   The story starts in Sudan, Africa where Maryan Vijayan Joseph (Dhanush) was working for two years on a contract basis and the twist begins when his contract comes to an end and he decided to go back home, India. Maryan, a fisherman is very attached to the sea. He worships the sea and refuses to leave his home. The only reason he decided to leave everything behind is because of Panimalar (Parvathy Menon). Panimalar’s dad could not settle his debts and the he was given the choice to either settle his debts or get Panimalar married to Theekurisi (vinay

Singam 2

Image
Singam 2 (Tamil)- 2013 The toughest cop is indeed back in charge. The most awaited movie in the Tamil Industry. ‘Singam 2’ is the squeal of Singam which was released in 2010. Back then it was a major hit. Singam 2 portrays about DuraiSingam (Surya), the DSP who was off-duty for several months to keep an eye on the ‘bad guys’ (drug dealers) and find out who is involved in this. This may sound like it is a full action movie but it is not. It is a typical tamil movie with several romance and comedy scenes as well. Surya managed to pull it off. The movie starts in Tuticorin where Duraisingam tries to find the culprit. It ended up that the main drug dealer is from Kenya and he goes there to arrest him. Also, Rahman is back after a long break. It was such a delight to watch him on screen. The movie was shot in several places like Kerala, Tuticorin, Chennai, Hyderabad, Malaysia, Thirunuveli, Karaikudi and Kenya. Romance - Kavya (Anushka) is still waiting for Duraisingam’s

July

July, the month which i like the most. No, it is not my birthday month. Something good happened. 7 good years back. Phewww! I wonder how fast time flies. See, half of the year just ended. Half way more to go :-D Also, will performing in front of thousands of people for the first time. July (so far) has been a lucky month for me*touch-wood* 10 years down the road, i would probably tie the knot in the month July as well. LOL! Ok, Stop laughing! That's it. Just felt like writing this :-)

Floral nail (2)

Image
I have posted about floral nail couple of months back. This one is a different one. Slightly different only.  All the procedures are the same the addiction is after you draw your flowers, use a toothpick to just smear it. Place your toothpick in the middle of every dots (white colour) as seen in the picture below. And wala! Your nails are done :-D

Ponnuruku (Gold Melting)

Image
Since i have so many wedding coming up in the family, I've decided to post about some pre-wedding rituals in a Sri Lankan (ceylonese) wedding. It is also called as ponnuruku and the gold that is used to take the thali is melted at the bridegroom's house. Apparently this is an essential ceremony and it cannot be skipped. This ceremony normally occurs 5-7 days before the wedding. The groom presents the gold to the family's goldsmith to be melted in a clay pot. The bride do not participate  in this and the groom and bride from this time onwards do not see each other and they remain vegetarians until the wedding is over. After the gold melting, Kanni Kaal is planted in both houses.  A few guest from the groom's house attends the ceremony followed by a vegetarian meal. After the planting is over, ladies of both parties will make Athirasam and this is distributed to all present. The significance of this is something sweet is traditionally given to mark the good occasion a

Blood Donation

I know this is so a random post. I came up with this topic because SEGI recently had a blood donation campaign and i took part in it hence the post :-D When i first donated i was shit scared. Did not know how the pain will be but after going through the whole procedure I felt so happy. I did not feel any pain at all. First you have to fill up a form given to you.The next procedure is Blood Testing. The officer in charge will test your your blood to see which group it falls under. Mine is 0 +ve. Next, the doctor in-charge will check your pressure and pulse. She will question you about you meals, your night sleep and so on. When she says, OK, you can donate....there you go! The blood is drawn from an arm vein. A huge needle will be poked into you vein and that's when your blood flows into the blood bag. This process only takes about 15-20 minutes. You can donate every 3 months once. So many lives can be saved by donating blood and it won't take much of your time. Be a life sa

The Dowry Bride

Image
The Dowry Bride is my current read. I am just half way trough it. The book revolves about the issue of dowries which i believe is a huge problem in India. Thankfully, i don't see any brides getting burnt alive or murdered in Malaysia (touch-wood) because of dowry problems in any of the local newspapers. But i must say that this is a very serious problem. I don't see why the groom insist on receiving dowries. Don't you think, it's like the groom's side are buying the bride and the bride's side are selling off the daughter? It is a mindset that you cannot marry your daughter without dowry? Or is it the " i must marry someone with the package" attitude? It is a marriage. You can't buy love! I love watching satyamev jayate. I watch it on you-tube because we don't have the channel in Malaysia. It was so sad to see several brides being tortured just because of this dowry issue. And in some families, the bride's parents committed suicide because

Valentine's day

So, it is the love month eh? Advance Happy Valentine's day people! Well, many of us get this day wrong. We think that valentine's day is all about you and your partner, the love between you guys. Let me tell you that YOU'RE WRONG ! Valentine's is about love in general. Anyone whom you love. For example, your family, friends and so on! It's a day of love, to celebrate it with loved ones not only with your partner. But then why do majority of us celebrate valentine's day with our partner only? We ditch our family and friends? Well, probably because it's already drilled in our heads that this day is just for me and my bf/gf. I think we should change our perception about this. And If you love a girl or a boy, you'll treat them special every day. Not once out of 365 days! I believe that everyday should be like a valentine's day. And valentine's day is not about buying expensive gifts or going on a expensive dinner and so on. It's abo

Pottu. Bindi. Thilak. Teep. Bottu.

Image
What comes to your mind when you hear bindi? yes, that tiny dot. Haha! I love bindi's (punjabi). It also called pottu (Tamil). Well, there are actually many names for it. Bengali's call it teep . Telugu's call it bottu and in hindi is it called thilak . During my recent trip to India i bought about 10 pieces of bindi. 10RS for one. So 10 pieces for 100RS which is MYR 6. Now, that is bloody cheap! In malaysia, one piece is sold at MYR 4 which is about 50-60RS. Imagine the profit these shop fellas are making! I always have this feeling that my face feels so empty if i don't have that tiny black dot in between my eyebrows. Apparently unmarried women wears black one and married ones wears a read one. I am pretty sure this is some olden days thinggie. That's it. Just felt like blogging about this. Yes, i know i am so random :-)
